Seabury was appointed the First Episcopal Bishop in North America. A loyalist, he is best known for writing a series of letters under a pen name defending the crown and attacking the Continental Congress. Alexander Hamilton retorted, and a public battle of words ensued. He appears as a character in the recent musical “Hamilton”.
